Taking place on July 26 and 27, Capitol City Opera’s 27th annual On the Light Side fundraiser will pay homage to one of America’s most notable pop culture and musical events: Woodstock. “Audiences can expect to hear highlights from the great hippie musical Hair, as well as Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar,” says Catherine Giel, the company’s music director. “We will also feature iconic songs of the time from bands such as The Byrds, The Fifth Dimension, The Beatles and more.” In addition to enjoying nostalgic tunes, attendees can also participate in a silent auction, trivia and a Woodstock-themed costume contest. Bring your own picnic dinner to make it a full evening.
