COMFORT FOOD TO GO

Casseroles are the comfort food equivalent to Southern hospitality.

We love them for being bubbly, creamy and cheesy, but perhaps appreciate them more for their convenience—they make an ideal takeout food. And these three spots offer up stellar casseroles all week long that allow you to you simply heat and eat.

SAFRO’S CARRY OUT

Pie Shop owner Mims Bledsoe whips up savory casseroles just down from her no-frills bakery at Safro’s Carry Out. The menu features breakfast, lunch and dinner casseroles to feed as many as six people. Like her offerings at Pie Shop, the casseroles here are made fresh daily and focus on traditional favorites—think ratatouille, chicken tetrazzini, and mac and cheese.

You probably know them for the warm bagels, but Goldberg’s also has a hearty supply of casseroles to go. You’ll find frozen and ready-to-heat favorites like chicken potpie, lasagna, and macaroni and cheese in the coolers near the checkout.

This hidden gem in Buckhead not only offers farm fresh produce, but owner Kim Wilson makes sure the coolers are stocked with homemade casseroles (faves like chicken potpie, lasagna, meatloaf and chicken tetrazzini) from local vendors like A Peach of a Party catering and Gabriel’s Bakery in Marietta.

The swanky and small Himitsu is from the genius team behind Umi. Stop in before dinner for a cocktail, or dine on sushi from the Umi kitchen and chef Fuyuhiko Ito, but the focus here is on the beverage program from T. Fable Jeon and Shingo Gokan.
