As the weather cools and fall foliage appears, it’s an ideal time get out and about with your four-legged friends.

We scoured the city for ideas, including a visit to local breweries, romps in the park and even a trip to a pet-friendly pumpkin patch.
Food & Libations
Mutation Brewing & Distilling Co. in Sandy Springs hosts Woof Wednesdays when patrons are invited to bring their dogs and enjoy $2 off each pint of beer or seltzer. Owner Chris Shapiro says the brewery usually hosts at least 10 dogs every week. Contrast Artisan Ales in Chamblee also allows leashed dogs inside the tap room and outside on the patio. For another option, head to Monday Night Brewing in West Midtown where well-behaved dogs can hang out on the taproom patio. If coffee is in order, Dancing Goats in Buckhead serves up complimentary puppucinos for dogs while their owners enjoy drinks on the patio.
Farmers Markets
Saturdays through Dec. 19, the Peachtree Road Farmers Market at the Cathedral of St. Philip is a great outdoor destination for socialized dogs. Some vendors provide doggie water bowls. On Saturday mornings through November, the Sandy Springs Farmers Market at City Springs is also a dog-friendly event. Pups are welcome in the plaza and on sidewalk areas, but not on the City Green. The year-round Dunwoody Homeowners Association Farmers Market on Saturdays also invites pets and their owners to Brook Run Park, where many vendors sell treats for four-legged friends.
Seasonal Events
Include your pooch in your Christmas tree selection by visiting one of Trees for Tuition’s lot locations, including two in Buckhead. The organization donates 100% of its sale profits back to the community through a scholarship fund and other nonprofits. Pups are also welcome at the Trees for Tuition pumpkin patches in the Grant Park and Virginia-Highland communities. “Our staff is always more than happy to assist in a photo shoot of you and your pup in our pumpkin patches or tree lots, and our mini pumpkins make a great snack for dogs,” says Calder Johnson, co-founder of Trees for Tuition.
On the Move
Spend a crisp fall afternoon with your dog along the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The East Palisades Trail has entrances in Sandy Springs (Indian Trail) and Buckhead (Whitewater Creek) where your pup can enjoy a water and beach area, as well as a scenic trail walk. Dunwoody’s Arrow Creek Park has a dog park with separate enclosures for small and large pups, complete with agility equipment. Brookhaven Park is another worthwhile spot with a 5-acre area for dogs of all sizes to discover. Wooded areas provide shade, and a small creek is an exciting feature for dog and human visitors alike.
