This summer, I attended a media preview for the new Jeffrey store in Buckhead Village District. The man himself, Jeffrey Kalinsky, who made his triumphant return to town after his Phipps boutique shuttered in 2020, was decked out in leopard print shorts, a blue button down shirt and athletic trainers. For fashionistas hungry for designer labels ranging from Loewe and The Row to Valextra and Courrèges, the opening represents a homecoming worthy of celebration. His return is evidence of Buckhead’s insatiable appetite for style. So for this fashion-themed issue, we’re showcasing a cadre of local designers and makers who are creating exciting, and sometimes one-of-akind, wares. Among them are cover star Dedrick Thomas of Hideoki Bespoke, who appears with his client, Mayor Andre Dickens; Nicholas Hixon who, under his company Adeline, creates bespoke avant garde women’s shoes; Marissa Freed, who used her family’s legacy in fur to launch a luxe faux-fur empire; and others.
