.I am not a fan of having my picture taken.
I could be having my best hair day ever, love what I’m wearing and have my makeup professionally done, and yet I’d still cringe when someone whips out a camera. Inevitably what happens is that the person taking my picture keeps urging me to “Smile!” and in my head I’m screaming, “I am smiling!”
The folks on our cover this issue, only one of whom is a professional model, made it look easy. Watching them at the photo shoot a few weeks ago for our “Glam Squad” story highlighting Buckhead’s best beauty pros (see page 69), I marveled at their ease and confidence when that shutter clicked. Writer Karina Antenucci had similar poise and grace when she posed for our photographer after getting a Glam Squad makeover (page 75).
Frankly, I’d rather have a root canal. You may, in fact, notice that uneasy look on my face in my photo above. You may also notice that my photo is a new one on this page. That’s because, after three-plus years as the editor-in-chief of Simply Buckhead, Giannina Smith Bedford has moved on to pursue other projects. I happily took over the reins from her in mid-April, and it’s my hope that I can put together a magazine as entertaining and informative as the one you’ve been seeing for the past 46 issues. That would truly put a smile on my face.
