PUBLIC ART AND SOUND CREATE AN INTRIGUING MIX AT PCM

Guest curator Ben Coleman crafted works that use PCM as a “playground of acoustic space.”
Art displays explore the sonic qualities of PCM in engaging and unexpected ways.

Visitors to Ponce City Market on Sept. 26-29 can experience the Atlanta hot spot in an entirely new way. The site will host Flux: Ponce City Market, a free event exploring the space through public art. Flux Projects chose PCM for this year’s program because, with its history, it has so many stories to tell, says executive director Anne Archer Dennington. “Through sound, we’re inviting people to explore Ponce City Market differently, a place they may know well or may be visiting for the first time,” she says. “We’re highlighting sound projects because the medium is so underrepresented in Atlanta, and we’re always trying to bring new opportunities for artists and new experiences to our audience.” Curated by artist and musician Ben Coleman, the works displayed will utilize the building as a “playground of acoustic space.”
