Two festive events bring lights, live music and Southern-made gifts to Barnsley Resort.

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS Barnsley Resort

An 80-minute drive from Buckhead, Barnsley Resort presents city dwellers with a different kind of glow this holiday season. It’s kicking off the holidays with two signature events: the Village Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 25 and the Holiday Village Market on Dec. 5. The first will illuminate the resort with more than a million lights. New this year is a redesigned light display, including elevated bulb lighting on resort buildings and fresh installations on trees. During the event, guests can visit with Santa, participate in hands-on crafts for kids and enjoy live music from traditional carolers and the Stephen Lee Band. Refreshments include hot chocolate, cider and cookies, plus chef stations serving chili from a cast iron kettle over an open flame. The Village Lighting Ceremony is 3 to 6 p.m.

In December, the Holiday Village Market, taking place from noon to 4 p.m., will feature handcrafted goods and gifts from Southern makers and artisans. A highlight is the Brackish Custom Hat Pin Pop-Up, where guests design their own hat pin using sustainably sourced feathers including quail, turkey, pheasant and peacock. Brackish artisans will complete and ship finished pins after the event. Market admission is $30 for day guests over 13; overnight guests and resort members attend free.
