Chamblee-based Jewish Family and Career Services’ Growth, Innovation & Durability Campaign raised $8.9 million in new endowment commitments from 2024 to 2026. “It doubled our endowments from its precampaign level and was fueled by seven-figure gifts,” says Amanda La Kier, chief advancement officer. “This milestone reflects the extraordinary generosity from our donors and a shared commitment toward a long-term impact.”

Major donations included $3 million from the Henry and Etta Raye Hirsch Heritage Foundation, $2.5 million from the Bunzl Family Foundation and $1 million from Judith and Gary Alembik to support teen mental health. Though based on Jewish values, JF&CS’s services are open to everyone. Funds from the ongoing campaign will be used to support its five programs across aging, mental health, disability and families, plus the Ben Massell Dental Clinic where volunteer dentists have been serving patients at no cost for the last 100 years.

Since 2019, JF&CS has increased its operating budget to more than $27 million with a goal of $30 million. According to La Kier, the success of the campaign reflects the philanthropic confidence in the organization’s vision and durability to serve the community now and in the future. La Kier, former CEO Terri Bonoff and current CEO Jay Cranman led the campaign.
